Job Summary
Westport Properties, Inc. is seeking a Real Estate Analyst to support underwriting for acquisitions, development, and asset management within our growing self-storage investment platform. This position is intentionally designed for individuals who are energized by analytical depth, financial modeling, and rigorous underwriting—not for candidates seeking a future transition into front-facing deal sourcing or business development roles. The Analyst will work closely with our CIO, CFO, and acquisitions/development teams, with primary responsibilities centered on detailed financial modeling, due diligence analytics, and investment evaluation. This is a role for someone who enjoys spending the majority of their time in spreadsheets, research, and structured problem-solving.
Who You Are
Someone who prefers analytical craftsmanship over networking, sourcing, or negotiations.
A detail-oriented problem solver who enjoys independent, focused work.
Curious about real estate but not motivated by a shift into acquisitions or capital-raising roles.
A collaborative teammate who thrives in an entrepreneurial, data-driven environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Build, refine, and maintain financial models to underwrite new acquisition and development opportunities.
Support due diligence processes through analysis, modeling, and organization of key materials.
Assist in the preparation of investment memoranda and analytical materials for internal and external stakeholders.
Perform market research, competitive analyses, demand studies, and budgeting for new self-storage projects.
Interface with capital partners as needed regarding analytical inputs and reporting (non–client-facing, limited travel).
Contribute to investor reporting, buy/hold analyses, financing coordination, and overall project execution.
Develop a deep understanding of properties, markets, and deal structures to enhance decision-making quality.
Coordinate with third party vendors on acquisition DD reports
Ad hoc reports as needed from Home Office and various departments
Maintain workflows such as post-closing checklists and underwriting checklists
Qualifications
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, or related field.
2-3 years of experience in real estate underwriting, investment analysis, banking, private equity, or a similar analytical role.
Strong foundation in cash flow analysis, valuation, and financial modeling.
Skills
High proficiency in Excel and enthusiasm for leveraging artificial intelligence to improve workflows.
Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to distill complex data into clear insights.
Comfortable working independently in flexible environments (office, home, etc.).
